Will Cothen graduated from the Carnegie Mellon University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Will is employed by the FirstEnergy Corporation at its Beaver Valley Power Station. In June 2014, he will take the position of Regulatory Compliance Manager. In this position, he will be responsible for the managing the relationship with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and overseeing the corrective action program.
Will is currently completing a 22-month loaned assignment to the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, or INPO, as a senior evaluator in the operations department. In this role, Will evaluates the performance of other stations in the areas of operator fundamentals and operational focus.
Will was previously a Shift Manager at Beaver Valley Power Station Unit 1, responsible for safe and reliable operation of the unit. To perform this role, Will was licensed as a Senior Reactor Operator by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission from 2007 to 2012. Prior to his work in the control room, he was an engineer in probabilistic safety assessment group in the Beaver Valley Design Engineering department.
Will resides in Beaver, PA with his wife and two children. He enjoys fishing, cooking, and home repair projects.
